About Pet Dex
Pet Dex is a free, online, searchable database of pets. On the website, you can:
- Set up a profile for your pet and search other people’s pet profiles.
- Register your pet in case he or she is ever lost.
- Find a lost pet or list a pet you’ve found for the owner to contact you.
- Search for a pet to adopt or list a pet that needs a home.
- Search for a pet shelter anywhere in the United States.
- Learn about pet breeds, pet care, grooming, training and much more.
Our Mission
To create a social networking site for Pets and their owners:
- Increase public awareness about and enable people to find adoptable pets.
- Help foster pet adoption programs globally in order to prevent the need for euthanizing adoptable pets.
- Help people locate their lost pets and find the owners of pets that are lost.
- Help increase awareness and knowledge about caring for pets, so that every pet can lead a healthy, happy life!
- Provide a social network for petowners to share pictures and fun information with each other about their pets.
Using your personal computer, you can search for a pet that best matches your lifestyle, reference websites for animal shelters and learn more about various breeds and types of pets. Pet Dex also offers classified ads, pet eCards and an extensive library of pet-related articles.
Pet Dex is updated regularly by registered members and the Pet Dex staff.
Organizations wishing to participate should register. A contact person should be responsible for direct communications with Pet Dex. Only nonprofit organizations will be included (but Federal 501(c)(3) status is not necessary).
